Fall and Winter 07-08 Donations

Many, many thanks to friends and alumni who were able to donate to our Scholarship Fund. Donations from the Fall Newsletter totaled an amazing $20,000. Once again, our anonymous donor took my call and agreed to send us an additional $3,400 to help send seven more applicants to camp. This is an amazing person who believes in what a music camp experience can mean to a young musician. All of these donations will go toward scholarships for this coming summer. We want to especially thank Morey’s Music Store who has faithfully donated to our efforts for over 20 years. They never hesitate to help young musicians go to music camp.

Listed below are the friends and alumni who sent donations. We appreciate their support.

Spring and Summer Donations 2007

Total donations from our Spring Newsletter totaled $5,029. Included in that amount was $1,220 donated in memory of Brian Reynolds. Those donations go into a separate account to be given out as two scholarships each year. An additional $500 was an endowment amount needed for a 2007 scholarship. General donations totaled only $3,309. There was one scholarship that was declined at the last minute due to an injury which, fortunately, wasn’t serious and another scholarship that was simply declined. That adds another $1,230 to the pot for a total of $4,539. That’s a start toward next summer’s scholarships, but much less than the $8,500 we had at this point last year after the enthusiasm of the Reunion. We know times are difficult. We appreciate you sending what you can.

Included with this newsletter is the contact information on all the alumni who were able to attend the Reunion. Their donations totaled $6,126. Listed below are the donors who couldn’t come to the Reunion, but wanted to help send young musicians to Camp. Their donations totaled an amazing $8,710, which included a donation for $3,075 from an anonymous donor who wanted to be sure we were able to help all the scholarship applicants. See the Scholarship Update section for more info on how that money was spent for summer of 2006. Once all the bills were paid, we were able to put away $8,500 for next summer. That’s a great start toward next summer’s scholarships. Thank you all!

Donations Spring and Summer 2005

Once again, alumni and friends of Arrowbear have been extremely generous in contributing to the scholarship fund. The Spring and Summer donations total $7,485. This is a terrific start toward next summer's scholarships. We are especially grateful to the families whose loved ones have passed away who, even in their time of grief, asked that donations be made to our scholarship fund in memory of their family member. We are so appreciative of the donations, yet saddened by their loss.

We received an additional $3,000 donation from an anonymous donor who for the last two years has indicated I should contact them if there are students who we would like to help with a scholarship, but we don’t have enough money left. It is so gratifying that this person never hesitates to help. Check out the Scholarships section to see the names of the additional students this donation helped to attend camp this year.

Fall 2003 Donations

Donations poured in during the fall and winter for a total of $8,728. That is amazing!! We’ve never received that much from one newsletter. Several contributors mentioned how they had kept track on the Internet and the regular news about the progress of the fires last fall, hoping that the camp would not be damaged or destroyed. If nothing else, the fires reminded people of the magic of Arrowbear and motivated some to donate so more young musicians could experience “Music, Music, Music.”

Winter 2002/2003 Donations

I am so pleased to tell you that donations exceeded our expectations for the last newsletter! Donations totaled a whopping $7,476!! That is outstanding. Thank you so much to those of you who were able to contribute. Many thanks, in particular, to Morey’s Music Store in Lakewood for continuing to support our efforts. Once again, two student musicians will be able to attend Camp due to their generosity. Be sure to visit their store if you can and give them a big “THANKS” personally. An alumnus suggested that we should put larger amounts on our donations page to encourage people to give more. I thought about that for a long time and found some merit in reminding people it’s acceptable to give larger amounts. There are certainly plenty of kids who can use the help. Yet, I want all friends and alumni of Arrowbear to feel that we’re also grateful for smaller amounts too. It’s just as acceptable to give a smaller amount if that’s all you can afford. It’s not necessary to wait until you can give a big number. It all adds up. We appreciate your desire to help kids have the same memorable time at Arrowbear that you did. Our sincerest appreciation to those who donated recently.
