Scholarship Application

The 2012 Scholarship Application is available here.

Applications must be postmarked no later than April 07, 2012.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 19, 2012.

The scholarship applications for Summer 2012 are now available! Recipients are selected based on both their merit and their need for assistance. Scholarships awarded generally range from one-half to three fourths of the camp tuition. We only have two full scholarships available. One is designated for an instrumental camper and the other for a choral camper. Contact our Scholarship Chairperson, Laura Kusaba, at 562-634-5158 or email her at Lkusaba@sbcglobal.net if you have any questions.

You now have the ability to fill in the scholarship application form on line! Simply save the file to your computer's hard disk, open the file using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader and type your information in the appropriate fields beginning on page 4 (use your TAB key to advance to the next field). Print it out, sign it and mail it per the instructions.

We encourage you to consider establishing a perpetual scholarship in your own name or in the name of a loved one. The annual amount should be at least one half of the cost of a session. We'll award it in the name of the person you choose as long as we receive that amount from you before April of every year. You'll receive a biography on the recipient as well as a thank you letter from them.

Last summer we granted $25,275 in scholarships to 42 recipients. Most scholarships awarded are for one-half to three-fourths of the cost of a session. There are a limited number of full scholarships available. We grant scholarships to both choral and instrumental applicants. Recipients are chosen based on both need and merit. Nearly all of our recipients would not have been able to attend a summer music camp without financial assistance. Applications are due in mid-April. We notify all applicants by the middle of May. The process includes a written application, a cassette tape or CD of a solo with or without accompaniment, a letter written by the applicant explaining why he or she needs a scholarship, and a recommendation letter from a private or school music teacher.

We’d really like to encourage choral campers to apply for a scholarship. There is one full scholarship available and, of course, we offer partial scholarships to other choral applicants. We’ve been sadly lacking in choral applicants every year. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to have all or part of your fees paid for by alumni. Take a look at our web site after Feb. 1 for the directions for recording your audition tape.
